The short answer is YES, this stuff really works.
So I am no expert on the how and why apple cider vinegar affects weight loss, but I can share with you the basics on what I know, how I use it, and how it has helped me lose weight.
ACV acts as an appetite suppressant by controlling your blood sugar levels. It also flushes out the toxins in your body and promotes healthy digestion and regulation. My body can definitely tell when I’m “taking a break” from my daily dose of ACV!
Everyone takes ACV differently, and there are several recipes online you can find based on your interests. The key here is to used only organic, unfiltered, raw ACV with the “mother”. Bragg’s ACV is the king of all ACV and is my personal favorite (get your first bottle here). Here’s my recipe:
  1. 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar–you will increase your dosage as your body gets used to it
  2. 1-2 teaspoons of lemon juice (fresh or bottled)–this is to support your metabolism
  3. Enough water to make a “double shot”–it is important to use only filtered water, as tap water will dilute the vinegar
I take this twice daily, one shot when I wake up and one shot before dinner. I don’t take it at work so my coworkers will still let me sit in our desk pod (it doesn’t smell the best…)! I’ve heard of people taking it three times a day or before each meal. Other people take it with a full glass of water; I don’t have the time or the patience for a full glass! You can even add honey for taste.
**SUPER IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT take this without water! ACV can easily burn your esophagus and cause damage.**
My biggest problem with weight loss is portion control (because I have none). ACV is a great way for me to stick to my meal prep since it suppresses my appetite. Most of the time, I can’t finish my dinner portions! Now, I’m not saying that I’m losing weight because I’m not eating. ACV has helped me to eat the important foods first (veggies and protein), and if I’m still hungry, I will move onto the carbs on my plate. I also have steady energy throughout the day when I take my daily dose, which has pushed me to perform well at the gym.
Try taking ACV for a week and see how you feel. Although it may not taste the best (that’s where faith comes in!!), you will see noticeable results in your energy, digestion, and hunger levels.
Let me know how it works for you or if you have any tips on how you utilize ACV!
